My commitment to Family counselling has been both in private practise and NGO agencies. Using narrative therapy skills I listen to find out the impact of the situation on their lives.Some children have differentiating issues and concerns. I look for the child's strengths which then empower them. I often use written material and ask the children to write down their feelings in order to dispose of these negative thoughts. Many children have been holding on to these thoughts and they have become stuck, causing depression, anxiety and other negative feelings and behaviours.
